Expel the Venom

Your own internal spring clean!
This is a fantastic tip  I’d like to share with you.
Enjoy the sunshine!
Energy Tip: from Donna Eden
Balance the Rhythm of Spring

Expel the Venom!

The energy of spring is about manifestation and moving forward.  Spring is a great time to rid yourself of anything that holds you back.  In the olden days, people ate bitter greens to help remove toxins that accumulated over the winter.

There’s a great exercise to help remove unwanted energies and make room for new, vibrant energy.  It’s called, “Expelling the Venom” (also called the Blow Out) and is especially effective at balancing the Rhythm of spring to make sure you don’t get stuck or angry.  It only takes a few minutes to do.

When you are feeling stuck or want to find the righteous anger within you:

  1. Stand with your hands on your thighs, fingers spread, and take a deep breath.
  2. With a deep inhalation, make fists out of your hands and swing your arms out to your sides and complete the circle by bringing them high above your head.
  3. With a loud “Shhhhhhhhhh” as you exhale, bring your fisted hands down swiftly, opening them as they reach toward the ground.
  4. Bring to mind the source of your anger and make your movements quick and forceful. Repeat three times.
  5. For a fourth time, feel your muscles and power unfolding as you slowly and deliberately circle your arms up and then pull your arms down as you exhale.
  6. Repeat until you feel the unbalanced energy dissipate.

Tumeric for a healthy brain

Have you had your turmeric yet this week?

I recommend you start eating tumeric,

Why?

Read what scientists are saying about Tumeric

In a recent post from NICABM, Ruth Buczynski, Phd talked about the neuroplastic possibilities of curcumin (a brain-boosting chemical in turmeric) for slowing the progression of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Did that convince you to start eating it? If not, consider this my second attempt.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Slowing the progression of Alzheimer’s Disease isn’t the only benefit from eating turmeric.

We were curious and so did a PubMed search. We came across so many other important studies on curcumin that we had to share some of them with you.

Let’s start with some more brain benefits.

A randomized, controlled study published in the journal PLoS ONE looked at the neurogenetic potential of prolonged curcumin use.

Neurogenesis is the process by which neurons are created in the brain, including in the hippocampus (one of the centers of neural learning).

Researchers led by Z. Zhao out of the Key Laboratory of Brain Functional Genomics, Shanghai, China looked at performance and brain growth in rats after 6 and 12 weeks on a curcumin-fortified diet.

(I hope those sweet rats got something tasty.)

The result?

Curcumin enhanced memory (both spatial and non-spatial), as well as hippocampal cell growth compared to rats in the control group.

But in addition to brain health, curcumin has been linked to:

  • The slowing of prostate tumor growth (S. A. Shah et al. Cancer Research, 2012)
  • Prevention and treatment of tendinitis (C. Buhrmann et al. Journal of Biological Chemistry, 2011)
  • Increasing the effectiveness of drugs used to fight colon, neck and head cancers (I. Aroch et al. Therapeutic Advances in Gastroenterology, 2010 and W. M. Abuzeid et al. Archives of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, 2011)

Forgive for your Health

Here is a great article on forgiveness.

FORGIVE FOR YOUR HEALTH

In recent years an impressive amount of research has pointed to the health benefits of forgiving—not only forgiving others, but also forgiving oneself and forgiving unexpected or unpleasant situations or circumstances.

Several scientific studies, including one published in the June 2004 issue of Psychology and Health, have shown that forgiveness can actually improve health conditions, including blood pressure, heart rate, pain, fatigue and more.

Forgiving improves health in two ways. First, it can reduce or eliminate a wide range of negative emotions (think anger, guilt, shame, fear, hurt and disappointment), which trigger physiological effects on the body. Second, it can enhance health indirectly by promoting positive health behaviors, increasing social support and improving interpersonal, marital and family functioning.

Key steps and attitudes to forgiveness

Grudges don’t do anyone any good, but they’re not always easy to give up. Here are some mindset shifts that will prepare you to forgive:

  • Always set the goal first. Are you hoping for peace, happiness, love, joy, harmony, improved health or healed relationships? Keep focusing on the goal.
  • Have a little willingness to forgive. Be willing to shift your attitudes, perspectives and perceptions. Be willing to see things differently. Forgiveness starts with willingness.
  • Be willing to let go of being right. In other words, be willing to let go of blame. Choose to be happy rather than right.
  • Be willing to let go of the hope for a different and better past.
  • Start focusing on what you want instead of what you don’t want.
  • Let go of “unenforceable” rules—shoulds and shouldn’ts.
  • Turn the forgiveness process over to a higher, wiser force or power.
  • Realize that forgiveness is a process that unfolds over time. Be patient with yourself. You are forgiving yourself, others and circumstances for the emotional, health and relationship benefits it will have for you.
  • Take one small step at a time: “A yard is hard, but an inch is a cinch.”

Forgiveness tools

Now that you’re in the right frame of mind to let go of your grudge, use these tools and tips to make it happen:

  • Use affirmations throughout the day. Here are two of the 30 affirmations in my book, The Forgiveness Solution (Conari Press, 2010):
-Inherent in every grievance, judgment and attack, thought is the seed of the opportunity for forgiveness. I will look for that seed and nurture it.
-I am the inner light of the self/being. My forgiveness reveals that inner light in all beings.
  • Practice afformations. Afformations are empowering questions that change a person’s subconscious thought patterns from negative to positive. Here’s one of the nine afformations in my book: “Why have I been able to forgive so easily now, when at first it appeared so difficult?” Again, practice throughout the day.
  • Write letters. Write three letters (without sending them) to another person. In the first, express what you are thinking or feeling without editing. A few days later, rewrite the first letter, taking out all the blame, owning and expressing your feelings of hurt, anger, guilt, sadness, anxiety, regret, disappointment and shame. Wait another few days before writing your “ideal response letter” from the perspective of the person who has received your second letter and is writing back with exactly what you would like to hear.
  • Use the Psychological Uplifter. Put one hand on your heart and say out loud, “Even though I feel (hurt, angry, guilty, sad, anxious, regretful, shameful) I accept myself deeply and profoundly, and I am a good, competent and magnificent person.” With your hand still on your heart, say, “I love myself unconditionally despite my problems, limitations and challenges,” and “I am entitled to miracles.” Repeat each phrase three times. Do this exercise five times a day. Be open to miracles happening.
  • Repeat the phrase, “I am sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you,” frequently throughout the day.
  • Observe how often you think about what you or other peopleshould do, and make a conscious choice to let the shoulds go.

Many people also find that keeping a daily forgiveness journal is very helpful and beneficial. In addition, a gratitude journal can help you focus on what you are grateful for in your life. Practicing these attitudes, tools and perspectives will gradually or sometimes dramatically improve your health and overall quality of life.

New Year New You

New Year, New You

How many times have you heard that? one, ten, one hundred!

Have you started with a list of resolutions you secretly know you won’t keep?

Maybe you have already stopped them. Out of 60% of people who make resolutions only 4% go on and keep them going until June before they let them go.

Don’t put yourself through it!

Be Yourself, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!

What do you want to have by this time next year?

Imagine yourself in that place experiencing it, draw it, paint it, write it, dance it or go mad and do all that!

You don’t need a New You, you want the magic of all you can be.

So go on let your imagination run wild and then…Just take the first step, then another, then another…get my drift.

After all how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!

Let’s make 2012 the best year ever. Hold onto your hat and enjoy the ride!

Three Key Objectives for 2012

Well done, you made it!!

You’ve got to the end of another year.

This is a special time just after Christmas and before the next year kicks off. A lull that we can take full advantage of to reflect on our achievements in 2011,  and more importantly to decide what we would like to be reflecting on this time next year.

So, when you are sitting here on 30th December 2012 looking back at the year, what will you have achieved?

To help you to really focus on what you want answer this.

If 2012 were to be your last year on earth what would you like to leave behind you and how would you like to be remembered, where would you go and who would you like to spend time with?

Now write down the three key things you want to achieve and experience in this coming year. Use language to express yourself that fully connects you to these experiences.

At the end of each day ask yourself…is what I’ve done today moving me closer to fulfilling my achievements?

Keeping this in your line of vision will keep your dreams alive and real. Focusing daily on the outcome brings the Universe and you into alignment. You can have all of it and you deserve too.

Have a wonderful 2012.

Overcome the Stress of Christmas

This time of year increases our levels of stress. Finishing year end projects, last minute jobs getting thrown into the mix, balancing resources and budgets,  juggling our finances. And then there’s Christmas!

Planning, shopping for presents, shopping for food, getting the tree and decorating the house.

How do you manage? Is your head in a spin, your life in a whirl?

Are you keeping a I’ll get around-to-it list or are you listing and prioritising your jobs daily?

Top 7 Tips:

  1. Make a list.
  2. Keep your list short and sweet otherwise you will become overwhelmed.
  3. Take the top three items and complete before you do anything else.
  4. What do I need to do for me? Do it!
  5. What can I delegate? Delegate it!
  6. Delete all unnecessary jobs, stay focused.
  7. Get to sleep before midnight so you wake refreshed the following morning.

Get all you shopping done by the 23rd and enjoy Christmas.

Confidence

Waking up in the morning, rolling over and turning the alarm off, thinking what day is it? Then…Oh God I’ve got that meeting today, or I can’t put off that phone call another day. Feelings of nervousness in the pit of your stomach wishing it was another day and you had the meeting or phone call over with.

OR

Waking up energised and buzzing to get to work, looking forward to that important meeting with a prospective client, enjoying the thought of making that all important call. Jumping out of bed and into the shower….
